Reading porm/erotica/whatever is sometimes a bit of a busman's holiday for me, so I tend to either accumulate a lot of unread anthos, or else read them only when I've got a review gig for 'em. And we don't mention the anthology slushpile issue.

Nonetheless. I just picked up Ian Philips' Satyriasis and Greg Wharton's Johnny Was and Other Tall Tales, both from Suspect Thoughts. (OK, actually, the sweet authors gave them to me. Ian also dedicated a story in Satyriasis to me. Awww.) I haven't had a chance to read much (and that included the story dedicated to me -- sorry Ian! I promise to get to it soon!), but I did get to hear a good chunk of their work read out loud at the book release party, and they are fabulous, amazing, twisted fucks. They qualify as "good porn with lots of whackery," without a doubt. Demented!

Speaking of demented, I am so looking forward to reading the Suspect Thoughts anthology Best of the Best Meat Erotica. Yes, that's meat-themed sex stories. Oh my God. It's also a parody of all those "best of" anthos that are cluttering the shelves behind my desk. About time.

Note that I don't always plug my friends' books, not even if they were given to me for free and/or dedicated in my general direction. I mean it. This stuff is hot. I'm just lucky to actually know the authors, too.
