Halloween and its constellated holidays is my favorite time of year. I have been very busy for the past few days. I remain very busy through...um, mid-December. Once again, the winter holiday season looks to be a relief, and that's probably a bad sign.
I need a day planner for 2008, fast.
Next year: pumpkin carving and sugar skull decorating party. Yes. I didn't even have time to carve my pumpkin this year! Woe! It sits on my counter, tall and proud and unmarred.
Tonight: Day of the Dead procession in the Mission! Will I see you there?
Still to come: expedition to the Oakland Museum for its annual Dia de los Muertos exhibit. This will be the capstone to the season. I am always profoundly moved by their installments. East Bay peeps (and hey, city folks, it's a short walk from the Lake Merritt BART station), I highly recommend it.
Meanwhile:
* I have eaten lots of candy.
* My department at work won a Halloween contest for our fantastic decorating job (and story line -- we're writers, after all).
* I got a glimpse of Halloween in the Castro. I saw a lot of idle cops.
* I did not wear a costume for any event. (I got undressed for one...)
* I took the day off yesterday. That was nice.
Also:
* I really am kinda emotionally exhausted and therefore a bit delicate, still. If I seem "off" in public when you see me, this is probably why. I'm not sure how to recover. I always just want to take a week-long nap at times like this, but it's not physical exhaustion I am suffering from this time.
* No particular reason or circumstances behind this exhaustion. It just is. I still love you all and want to see you. I am just not feeling really high-energy, bouncy, enthusiastic right now. I am all about low-key. Cuddling and talking in the dark. No demands or expectations. Yeah, like that.
