This is a filler post while I prepare a longer update.

Modern alphebetical conundrums: when filing CDs, does Ms. Dynamite go under M, or D? What about Queen Latifah?

Which are you most likely to look under in order to find them? If you just want to find them quickly and think M and Q then file them there. Filing systems are about finding things quickly not about necessarily being slavishly faithful to someone else's idea of where things go.

The problem is, I don't know if I'm more likely to think M or D, Q or L! (But I'm inclined toward M and Q at the moment.) I also feel a certain nagging need for consistency -- perhaps because I often ask Steven to re-file or fetch discs for me.

Heh. Well if the title is part of their name, they get filed under the title. Queen Latifah is in Q. Ja Rule is in J, because "Rule" isn't his last name. If Ms. Diamond is a performing name, under M.

At least, these are the rules I made up for my job.
