I was crossing Fillmore at Haight this afternoon when this guy on a skateboard came tearing across the street, dodged a pair of shoolboys loitering on the corner, went up the wall at Walgreens and came to a stop within centimeters of my feet. I'd tried to get more out of his way but couldn't predict his trajectory with any accuracy.
Normally I'm pretty tolerant of skateboarders, but come on.
In other news, it looks like Naked Eye on Haight is in trouble. They were closed today, with a petition on the stoop asking for their customer's support and signs saying "we need a new space!"
Naked Eye just bought three copies of Problem Child. I was planning on checking in with the owner on how they were doing today.
Naked Eye is a great resource for alternative print (and video) culture, and it would be a shame to see it go away. If you're local, stop by and sign their petition, at the very least. If you have leads on a new space for them, give them a call. h
