She has better political instincts than I did at that age. Despite my parents' DUKAKIS FOR PRESIDENT banner hanging outside our house, I wanted Bush to win because I thought "he had a funny name". Go figure.

*nods* I'm a lot older than you are, but my mother nearly disowned me at age 8 because I said I would vote for Nixon rather than Kennedy. (This seems now a very odd choice for an 8-year-old; I wonder what went into it.)

when i was whatever age it was where nixon ran against mcgovern, some large kid stood at the door of my classroom at school and asked who we would vote for, and i quickly discerned that if you said mcgovern, you were in trouble, so i said nixon. so maybe all your classmates were voting for nixon and you wanted to fit in?
